The Sequim Lavender Farm Faire is on! This weekend, July 15-17, 2011, thousands of visitors from all over the world will gather to revel in all things lavender.
The new centralized Sequim location, Lavender in the Park at Carrie Blake Park, is your family-friendly central source for all things lavender. The beautiful and spacious Carrie Blake Park features the James Center Amphitheatre, with great lawns and lovely gardens that will provide a relaxing and open area for the entire family. The park location replaces the traditional street fair on Fir Street that you might recall from previous years. You will still find your favorite Street Fair participants at the park, featuring more than 150 booths with fine crafts, food, beverages, music, agricultural programs and family programs.
There’s an international selection of great food and beverages at Lavender in the Park, but the spotlight is on local fare, with a wine and beer garden sponsored by Olympic Peninsula Wineries & great food and beverages offered at each of the farms on tour! On Sunday, five of the farms have prepared a “cooking with lavender” demonstration. New this year, Sunshine Lavender and Herb Farm will be offering cooking demonstrations all weekend long.
Special exhibits include Master Gardener Foundation of Clallam County, Shiso Sister City Friendship Garden, Nash’s Organic Produce, Northwest Raptor & Wildlife Center with their “ambassador” birds, sheep herding demonstrations, auto shows, and even more surprises. Of course, Lavender in the Park includes premier lavender and lavender products from the members of the Sequim Lavender Farmers Association who anchor the program at Carrie Blake Park including: Angel Farm, Moosedreams Lavender Farm, Victor’s Lavender and the Weary Gardener.
Friday and Saturday night, after a day at the farms, take in the evening concerts at the James Center amphitheatre, with performances by Creme Tangerine and Cort Armstrong and the Blue Rooster.
Admission to Lavender in the Park and the concerts is free!
Lavender in the Park Hours:
- Friday and Saturday 10am-7pm
- Evening concerts and international foods and beverages until 9pm
- Sunday 10am-6pm
This new location at Carrie Blake Park is where all of the buses will be loading to connect the Lavender Farm Tour and the thousands of friends of lavender who come to visit from around the world. There is plenty of parking right next to the park, just a short walk away, or a quick free shuttle ride provided by the Boys & Girls Club.
Traveling with a pet? Lavender in the Park has a safe and secure place to leave your pet while you enjoy the Faire. Olympic Gentle Paws, a therapy dog group, will provide shade, water and treats and exercise (if authorized). Dogs are not allowed on the farms so this is a guilt free way to enjoy your Faire time! Along with safe and secure, we can add spoiled!
This new event is produced by the Sequim Lavender Farmers Association (SLFA), a Washington State nonprofit corporation.
